For couples that enjoy films beyond the typical summer blockbusters, Houston has several wonderful film festivals to explore. All throughout the year, one can find the best of independent and international cinema by checking the festival calendar. Early April brings with it Worldfest Houston, a famous film festival that has more than 50 years of history behind it. Enjoy a wide variety of movies that come from all over the world. For something more culturally focused, there is the Jewish Film Festival in May and the Palestine Film Festival in mid-April. And if you’re just in the mood to laugh, the Houston Comedy Film Festival is a one day event at the end of July that brings together 30 independent short film of a humorous nature.
