I think there's a LOT of options out there for CF, so I'm excited to see how Dipoto approaches this offseason. If we expand the list to guys with MLB experience, I'd talk to the Rays, Marlins, Mets, Yankees, and Padres in that order:
- The Rays might be amenable to trading Kiermaier or Mahtook to shore up their pitching and first base problems. Both of these guys can play both sides of the ball but would take something like Trumbo/Paxton/++ to get.
- Read one article said Marcel Ozuna might be on the trade block. He looks like a rebound candidate, although he does not control the strike zone well.
- Juan Lagares rewarded the Mets's five-year contract offer by taking steps back in both his offensive and defensive metrics. I don't know if the Mets are still happy with him, but his defense looks fine to me. People will hate him because of his arm though.
- The Yankees have Slade Heathcott who is just a monster in field, but who has a Chris Snelling/Franklin Gutierrez-sized medical file.
- Wil Myers might also have some sparkle dust left, but I'm not sure he fits Dipoto's "get more athletic" idea.
