I agree. Unless you want to spend a fortune on free agency or go into rebuilding mode, I don't trade Smith. We have too many question marks among every day outfielders to move Smith, especially when a platoon with him and Guti might be the best way to retain Guti as VERY useful piece while not counting on him. This is especially true given that the RH bat in a platoon is the one you are counting on the least. That platoon could cover one of the corner OF spots. Why trade to cover a hole and in so doing create another one? That's more a tradeoff than a solution.

I acknowledge the bullpen needs serious attention. But trading from a shortage of OF'ers is not the way to solve it.
