Friday Fun: Things to do with rocks, pipes and gutters
Here are some fun things to do this weekend or the week ahead:
Play at Home Mom has several fun ideas to use with pipes and gutters. We made a water wall in our yard with old cups in a similar fashion, so if you don’t have any piping try cutting holes out of cheap cups and angling them at one another.
Outdoor Hour Challenge: If you’re not familiar with The Handbook of Nature Study blog, go check it out. It’s a really fun way to explore nature with your family. Every week there are journaling ideas, exploration prompts and so many other ways to just get outside and enjoy nature.
A mom in my homeschooling group shared this lovely little felt busy book the other day and I just think it’s adorable! It features characters from Super Mario but you can use the general idea for just about any beloved character, or even some sweet woodland critters to go with the mushrooms.
Grab some flat rocks like the one in my photo and draw hearts, write words or glue googly eyes to them, then leave them in places for people to find as a fun sort of guerilla art. My daughter and I love to do this and keep a basket of them handy!
And here’s a sweet dedication to the wee ones in our lives from The Natural Parent Magazine on Facebook.
Make a fun fairy house in your yard this weekend if the weather’s up for it! If it rains, you can still play outside—then cuddle up with favorite books and mugs of cider or hot chocolate inside.
