I like the Boise State story and enjoy watching their style of football...but let's not get too carried away. After Oregon, here is Boise's schedule:
Miami of Ohio
Fresno State
Bowling Green
UC Davis
Tulsa
Hawaii
San Jose State
Louisiana Tech
Idaho
Utah State
Nevada
New Mexico State
It's a quirk of the BCS point system that a team like Boise can play one or two good opponents per year, beat up on the Little Sisters of the Poor all season and be in contention for a major bowl game. No way that a team playing that soft of a schedule should be considered "Elite". To be elite in college football, a team should have to go through the meat grinder that is a major conference schedule.
Boise may well be looking at an undefeated season but could anyone say that if they were playing Miami, Florida's schedule:
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Oklahoma
Florida A&M
Central Florida
Clemson
Wake Forest
Virginia
North Carolina
Duke
South Florida
I think Boise would be looking at 2-3 losses, maybe more, with that schedule.
