Only one player hit over .290.  One player.  Yaz, who led the league with a .301 AVG.
In 1968-69, Bob Gibson had 11.9 and 11.0 wins above replacement -- everybody else was 7 and down, like today.
Gibson's 11 WAR got him #30 in the MVP voting.
