LOVE that last line, Doc. It definitely needs to be accountability at ALL levels, not just the footsoldiers.
This decisive action early in the season is gratifying to see. It may not help the team a great deal, Peguero clearly showed before that he was not ready, but it sets a tone. Besides, I can't help but smell an MLB-certified import (not necessarily big bucks) coming as soon as it can happen. My guess, Peguero is and Wilson are placeholders who, if they happen to show something more than expected, can earn a longer look. Meanwhile Jack may already have a potential deal in the works that just needs time to mature.
The season (and the ATTENDANCE) may hang in the balance right now. I don't think Jack wants to see it slide into a lost cause just has hope has been kindled. As Sandy said elsewhere, the pitching may not continue at quite the high level it has shown thus far, even so does not constitute the 120-ish ERA+ that has been discussed, and a continuation of the offense as it is guarantees a disaster of a season.
It's just really hard for me to believe that Z/Wedge really think Wilson and Peguero are the solution to the lack of offense. Thus the place-holders idea.
