...the team has invested roughly 1 1/2 years in Ackley as a second baseman, dating back to the winter of 2009-2010. It would seem odd -- at least to me -- for the team to suddenly punt all of that long-term planning for a short-term outfield fix. Doesn't it? I thought so. Just to be sure, I phoned GM Jack Zduriencik a few minutes ago and asked him.
 
"We view Ackley as our second baseman going forward,'' Zduriencik told me.
