1. Ack Attack! Get used to it.
2. Felix' poor previous start in Arizona was forgotten sometime during the bottom of the first inning. This one was Felix being Felix.
3. Unfortunately, it was also the M's offense being the M's offense. Still, McCarthy was being McCarthy too.
4. Who was that Yo-Yo yesterday who reiterated for the umpteenth time his skepticism about Ichiro's prospect for a return to stardom?
5. Ryan's play up the middle (can't remember the inning, you know the one I'm talking about) to turn away an A's scoring opportunity made the game worth watching all by itself. In fact, considering his leadoff double in the 11th he slots into the tier right below Felix, Ackley, and Ichiro as heroes of the game. Without that play, which I'm not sure any other shortstop makes, we don't make it to extra innings.
6. I napped twice during the day to be sure I was as fresh as possible for the big game. In order not to disturb my wife's sleep, I went to bed on the sofa at 10 pm and slept fitfully until 2:30 am, then watched the game with alacrity. But it is difficult for me to watch entire games anymore, and I began to run out of gas in the late innings. I says to myself, "Self, what in the WORLD are you doing? NO MORE 3am games for you!" I hung in there through the 10th inning, but my wife woke up about then so I left the DVR running and fell into bed for a few hours sleep. It was a treat to wake up and immediately enjoy the game-winning 11th inning. I don't think I'm going to watch tonight's Game Two live.
