It's annoying that we, more or less, outplayed Texas and lost 3 games out of 4. We had about 7 line drives hit outfielders standing still in this series...seriously...how many times did you see Smoak or Seager or Montero send a missile out to the left fielder who just stood there and caught it 2.5 seconds later? It was ridiculous...and it won't keep happening. :)
We also got out-homered 7:1 with 3 of theirs being wind assisted and 3 of ours going less than 20 feet foul in either direction. GAH!
Oh and Doug Eddings is an (explitive)...one of the worst umpires I've ever seen. Periodically, his outside corner literally gets so large that it includes the opposite batter's box. Not just the line...several inches INTO the box. He should have been fired the instant pitch f/x proved his incompetence.
All of those things are annoying, but the Mariners played rawhide tough baseball against one of the most talented teams I've ever seen assembled and demonstrated that they have real talent on both sides of the ball. I'm thrilled with this...and after Texas, playing Oakland is going to seem like child's play.
