You don't platoon a Stanton or a Pujols. But there are only a few players in each league who you wouldn't platoon. We don't currently have any of those players. Ackley, Smoak, and Montero may get there - but none of those players have earned the playing time enjoyed by the best hitters of the game.
I think the vets presence on this team should humble and motivate the keys guys this team needs to have success.
