Stuffed animal fun
This year, Wood Sprite was diagnosed with asthma, so you can imagine how paranoid I am now about cold weather, which triggers my own mild asthma sometimes. During the past week, we had a couple of very cold days during which she stayed inside most of the time. We did a bunch of fun indoor activities to compensate, but boy, did she hate staying inside! If you need some fun things to do, I highly recommend these stuffed animal activities that we did.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Animals: Sprite cut up a few of her old t-shirts and made some of her stuffed animals into mutant ninjas. This was completely her idea (most of the things we did were her ideas). Pictured here is Mittens, her beloved Target pup, decked out as Michelangelo.
Stuffed Animal Jet Packs: I read about this idea online at The Activity Mom and it was so simple that we had to do it. Sprite adjusted the arms of the “pack” several times before they fit the way she wanted them to, then she used it on several animals (including Mittens). She was bummed that it didn’t really “work,” which is another testament to her desire to have everything be a workable, scientific experiment these days.
Reindeer Animals: Sprite added pipe cleaner reindeer antlers to several animals, including her zhu zhu pets.
Stuffed Werewolf: Sprite made her own stuffed werewolf out of an old purple sweatshirt, lentils and some polyfil. Unfortunately it keeps leaking everywhere and we are finding lentils all over the house, but it’s still pretty cool looking and soft!
