Weekend fun: superhero workouts

Plus Christmas countdowns, hobbit crafts & more

The Activity Mom has some fun superhero workouts going on, as well as ideas for your Christmas countdown. Do you have your advent ready for the holidays yet? We have our house decorated and the advent box out, but I haven’t put anything inside it yet. This year we are using simple chocolates, and I am inserting a pair of holiday socks in the final box.

So They Can Fly has a great post about creating memories with your kids through the seasons. In fact, you might want to use this list as your autumnal checklist for fun!

Geek Mom has some cool hobbit-inspired crafts to do, which makes me want to look up even more Middle Earth projects. I am itching to introduce Wood Sprite to Tolkien and these might come in handy for that.

Try some easel activities and projects with your kids from Crafts and Art for Children. It’s amazing how much of a difference an easel makes. Sometimes you can have all of the craft making materials out and the kids show no interest until you present them with an easel. Then they get to become “real” artists!

Got pinecones? Homemade Home Ideas has 17 great ideas for using them in crafts. I love the candle jar idea. And if you don’t have pinecones in your backyard, try asking a neighbor, a local business or even the library if you can take a little hike to collect them. Most of them won’t mind, especially since they are getting rid of pinecones off their lawn for free.

Use mismatched knobs on a dresser for a cute new look. I just love all of the ideas over at A Beautiful Mess! We are going to use the cute orange stamp idea that I linked to a few weeks ago for our new kitchen someday and I cannot wait to see it.
