Cycling the Karakoram Highway

One of East Asia’s most intense biking challenges

For the truly devoted cycling enthusiast, the Karakoram Highway is a great way to challenge your endurance as well as to see some amazing and remote areas of China and Pakistan.  The entire route measures in at about 750 miles and traverses the distance between Kashgar in China and Gilgit in Pakistan.  This trip also takes you right through the HimalayanMountains at what is the highest border crossing in the entire world.  This is no easy bike ride, however, so you’d best be sure you’re ready for this one whether you’re doing the whole route or a just a smaller portion of it.  But for couples that want an adventure that is truly unique, this is the way to go.  Has anyone tried to take on the Karakoram Highway before?  How far did you make it?
