He is a defender for the Seattle Sounders. Zach Scott wears the #20 uniform. He was born on July 2, 1980 in Wailuku, Hawaii. Scott is 5’11 and weighs 175 pounds. He grew up in Haiku, Hawaii and went to Maui High School, making the All State team during his senior year. Scott started his youth career playing for the Gonzaga Bulldogs from 1998 to 2001.

Although Scott started his senior career playing for the Seattle Sounders from 2002 to 2008, he was not always just a Sounder. He made 154 appearances with Seattle, scoring eight goals, but he also played for the Cleveland Force indoor team in 2002. He made seven appearances with the team, achieving one goal. From 2002 to 2003, he played indoor soccer with the San Diego Sockers. He made 10 appearances and one goal with the team. Since 2009, he’s been with the Seattle Sounders FC. He has appeared with the team 104 times as of 2015, scoring one goal out of 33 shots and starting in 82 games. His sign on date was March 16, 2009. Since 2009, Scott has had three red cards and 27 yellow cards on the field.

Captain Brad Evans boasts that Scott “bleeds rave green” and has “done so much for the club.” Scott is known for his epic aerial duals and intercepting skillfully, working the field as a defender should. In May, Scott said that he feels that the Sounders have become stronger defensively this season.  Some of Scott’s achievements and honors have included the A-League Western Conference Championship in 2004, the USL First Division Championship in both 2004 and 2007 and the MLS Supporters Shield in 2014.

Scott is very loyal to his fans. When the president of his fan club designed the Mt. Rainier scarf as an idea for the official 2016 Alliance Scarf, Scott took to Twitter and rallied his fans to vote for the scarf, joking, “Vote for this scarf and I promise not to pass to Keane anymore!”  He is also a family man, defending his wife and children on Twitter when some supposed “fans” gave them trouble after he had a rough day on the field.
