T-Birds Beat Portland Winterhawks
The Birds are on a roll again

And they’re back with another six-win streak! They were down from their last streak, courtesy of the Silvertips, but it sure didn’t take long for the T-Birds to bounce back as strong as ever. The Seattle Thunderbirds came through with a big win on Saturday night, beating the Portland Winterhawks in a solid 5-2 victory. The Birds set the tone for the whole game during the first period, outshooting the Hawks 14-10 and only moving forward from there with a total of two more goals during the second period and another two during the third.

Barzal scored the first goal of the night, assisted by Kolesar, during the first period of the game. Neuls scored a goal during the second period. He was assisted by Smith and Eansor. Watson scored the next goal, still during the second period, which Eansor also assisted. During the third period, Holowko scored a goal, assisted by both Eansor and Watson. Wedman scored the seventh goal of the night during the third period. That goal was made with assistance from Ottenbreit and Bear.

Portland’s goals were both scored by Bittner. The first was assisted by Jones and Bukarts; the second was by Dougherty. Penalties were had between Bear and Sea for holding, Jones and Por for delaying the game, and Olhaver and Sea for goalie interference during the first period. Second period penalties were between Overhardt and Por for tripping, Dougherty and Por for delaying the game, Watson and Sea for hooking, Clayton and Por for tripping, Gropp and Sea for tripping and Hauf and Sea for roughing. During the third period, penalties were had between Gropp and Sea for interference on the goalie.

It wasn’t just an offensive victory, of course. Goalkeeper Logan Flodell worked hart Saturday night, saving 31 of 36 shots.

Referees present at the game were Brett Iverson and Andrew Wilk. Linesmen included Bevan Mills and Michael Bean.

The Birds will be playing against the Hawks again on Friday, January 8, 2016. The game will be held at the ShoWare Center again at 7:35 PM. How do you predict they’ll fare after this big win?

Miss this game? Don’t miss out on the next one over Thanksgiving weekend. The Birds will be playing against the Vancouver Giants at the ShoWare Center. Puck drops at 7:05 so be there or at least listen on the air! Get your tickets at the box office or the Thunderbirds website.
