TwyxDW Thanks again for the post.Really looking forward to read more.

Romero is hanging in the breeze, too. And he's been as effective as Jones in reality. He'll get picked up one way or another.

Rasmussen, Olmos, and maybe 1-2 others are probably headed for DFA. Hope they can get something for at least a couple of them.

I'd like to see the Ms clear some 40-man space with a trade. Jose Ramirez and Ramon Flores are both out of options and don't have clear roles for next year, yet have 40-man spots. Maybe some rebuilding team might have use for them. If you packaged them with Elias, would #Miami be interested? Flores could go into LF, Yelich move to CF, and voila, Ozuna is replaced; and #Miami gets a starter and fireballing reliever as well. And 2 spots get cleared for Kivlehan, Marlette, Pizzano, et al. Rather that than just DFA'ing guys. Guess we'll see what the JeDi does.

For Schtick ideas.... Most of these are KK:
What would you do about Syrian Refugees?
How would you vote in both primaries?
What in the world are we going to do if we have to choose between Trump and Hillary????
Oh something #Baseball
...
...
...
When we win the world series next year... Where are all the SSI denizens gonna meet up for a celebratory dinner???

And interesting 40-Man issue: We have only 5 (non-1B) IF's on the 40-Man: Cano, Seager, Taylor, Marte and (utility) O'Malley. It is likely that all of those guys will be in #Seattle after ST. We have no MiLB IF's on the 40. Accordingly, I think we'll see some guys with MLB experience who don't make the 40-man cut. Either Baron or Hicks will get dropped (assuming we've got Ianetta). I think Romero will be dropped. He's frozen out right now. I will not be surprised if Robertson gets dropped even though he was just signed. But he came on board before Powell (clearly a DiPoto fav) and Martin came on board. It wouldn't surprise me if we try to slide Robertson through and keep him. I think we move Riefenhauser off the list, as well. That creates 4 spots and since I count 39 guys on the 40, that leave 5 spots to fill. Ianetta is one and we're back down to 40. #Jordan Pries is another, perhaps. I think Kivlehan gets an opportunity to be an OF/COF utility type guy. He gets on. Then Powell. That would leave a spot open for Tyler Smith. Not Deej just now. That gives us room for another add.

G - just wondering - so what's your guess as to why DiPoto didn't prioritize Choi more? Can you (HA!) name a coupla guys you'd have cut loose before you'd have cut Choi loose?

Thanks for the feedback Matt! I'd raise the payroll $40M, buy Heyward and Greinke, and ... kidding. We'll work it.
In order to know what I'd do, I'd need a budget and a current $ situation. Can anybody help with that?
Iannetta certainly looks like a key move, tho...

No, I didn't buy Acer - my wife did (as a surprise) because it was like $199 at Walmart :- ) but okay. Now I know what I'm up against. Really was just going to use it for surfing *while on the couch* and perhaps typing up some short Word docs. Think I'll survive that? LOL -

But as a Mac user suddenly in possession of Windows 10, I guess now I know not to invest 50 hours in learning all the featured apps on this machine ...

Choi is still underlined on my Watch list. Minors: Votto hit .290/.385/.475, Choo hit .280/.380/.445, and Tino Martinez logged .270/.345/.470. None of em are HR hitters, but they all pulled their weight. Choi, despite missing swaths of time with injuries, has hit .300/.405/.480. All you need from him is a healthy year. Sometimes the Nick Johnsons and Chris Snellings of the world are just too injury-prone to ever get the years of production their hitting abilities should generate... but you still give em every chance. Choi will still be 24 to start the 2016 season. Somebody's gonna give him a shot. Since we have Trumbo and then basically a prayer, I'm hoping we bring Choi back after we get through Winter meetings and the Rule 5. But we'll see.

Seconded

as for article recs...I'd like to see some schtick on what YOU'D do with this roster from here.

Oh Doc...Doc...you didn't buy ACER...did you???? Do you check customer reviews when you buy something? :) I kid because I love...man...Acers are absolutely worthless...they're the follow-up to the Packard Bell line from the 90s with all of the same problems. Underpowered CPUs, bad RAM layouts, cheap power supplies, poor graphics cards, overheating issues, design flaws of every stripe. Mostly...they're just built cheap to sell cheap and be replaced in less than 2 years.

That's a shame on Choi. A couple of years back he was (quite reasonably) underlined on Spec's and G-#Money's watch list. Watch, of course, not Best Bet or anything. But he seemed to have very watchable OBP skills...

Bat - am sure they're on it, and am sure the admins much appreciate your professional-#Style feedback. Gracias amigo. Oh, and we never got a chance on Veteran's Day - most sincere thanks for your service to our great nation.

Moe, you doing the POTD on Son ... no trouble at all; you (1) fed me a "live" article idea when am pressing for quantity and (2) your comments and shouts are worth many articles. Now that you mention it, I'd honestly appreciate a steady stream of article / POTD / shtick suggestions ... from other lead Think Tankers as well ... actually from everybody as well ... :- ) I don't get a lot of feedback as to WHICH TYPES of articles are preferred.

.272/.312/.387 was #Austin #Jackson's slash for us in 2015. That gave a 97 OPS+ in Safeco - perfectly league-average hitting - and 4.2 runs a game unadjusted. If you got a 100ish OPS+ from a dominant glove specialist in the middle of the field you really would have Paul Blair. YOU GO, EDGAR

Kyle - if Martin gives us a .265/.315/.365 triple slash in Safeco, Jerry DiPoto will be carried out of the Q-and-A session on the season ticket crowd's shoulders :- ) and of course there's nothing farfetched about that at all. As Eno Sarris put it, "you're not asking for a legendary bounceback here." Keep reminding us tho! Leonys Martin is forever your Adopt-a-Player ...

Matt - my wife just now got me a laptop for my birt'day. It's got "Edge" (?) or Mozilla. Recommendations? Open it up for the crowd? ... and slap me silly, this thing (Acer Aspire, manufactured two months ago) freezes constantly despite having zero in its registry. I'm probably just a spoiled Steve Jobs 1984 sycophant :- )

... they weren't real eager to give Roberto Petagine his second shot, though, until he was too old ... :- ( I could be imagining things but it seems that American players going over to Asia, it's like they've offended the industry either before or during their trip ...

Reply - Browns8625 - 11/18/15 2:11pm

Unless you are the ageless wonder Julio franco..he was just like...I'm still as in shape as these guys at 50. Play ball

Reply - jemanji - 11/18/15 2:30pm

I cannot even believe what I'm seeing on Franco's b-ref card. (I'm totally oblivious to the NL and had no idea Franco played at 42, much less age 48.) ... for one thing, though, in 1995 Franco slugged .435 in Japan - sandwiched around .470-.515 SLG seasons in the American League. Great, great precedent for any scout looking down his nose at American players going overseas

Eric Thames - that will be intriguing, to see what he does if he gets another chance. The steady diet of change-speed seems to trigger something for American hitters. When Cecil Fielder came back and had his 50+ homer season, it seemed that he feasted on curve balls.

Reply - Browns8625 - 11/18/15 2:13pm

Gotta miss Cecil fielder, Kirby bucket too..oh and Cruk ofcourse. Gotta love a guy that can ball while he looks like he should be watching the gane at hime.

Ji-Man Choi was made a minor league free agent, so the Ms don't have to save him a 40-man spot at this time. We'll see if we get him back, or if the injuries and his lack of power for 1B lets him seek another chance elsewhere.

Bat... sounds like you are an IT/Software/Tech guy of some sort? Maybe you have tried some sort of customization that is having an unintended consequence? I am using both Win7 and Android and mostly Chrome on both and things seemed to have settled down... for the most part I stay logged in and I haven't seen any memory leaks...

Interesting...I don't have the CPU/memory leak problem in W10 and didn't in W7 either...

The leak and CPU demand are there in Chrome and Mozilla, too, Matt. But using IE with a white list has saved me from a lot of malware and the businesses I support mostly use IE still (I'm still trying to get some of them to upgrade from XP SP2) with my whitelist as well. None of them have gotten severely downed with malware, while other businesses, especially those using "stock" (unconfigured) Mozilla are getting had regularly. And the log-in/refresh issues are in Chrome for Android - when the leak overwhelms the 2G/3G of memory in my phone/tablet, I refresh, but in doing so, it often logs me out. Since I'm getting the "long-running script" error and I have few problems on other sites, I'd say the SSI site still needs some adjustment

Kyle, agreed. I Shouted a bit ago that at .690 he's a terrific steal. Ditto at .680. In Safeco, that would put him in the 90 OPS range (Morrison was .685 and 92 in '15) and, at that, a terrific player. It's the spooky .590 and 70 that is worrisome. Limit his vL PA's and you'll get your #Money's worth, no prob.

Doc, with apologies. I just saw your question to me about doing the POTD on Son. I should have seen it earlier and spared you the effort. Of course, it wouldn't have been up to Doc snuff, but all the same..........

Mea culpa

With Martin, I'd take a .265/.315/.365 triple slash. Even if he falters, he is still one of the best defensive center fielders in the game, over the last three years, Martin has had 25 DRS, two more than Yoenis Cespedes. We haven't had a glove like this Guti.
