Welcome to the T-Birds, Josh Uhrich
Get to know the new right winger

It is midseason and we all know what that means: fresh blood. Teams are making new deals and trading players to increase their chances of a better second half of the season and the T-Birds are no different. Just days ago they told fans that Luke Ormsby is joining the team. Now the Seattle Thunderbirds just announced that they are signing on Josh Uhrich to the team. The announcement came in on December 7, 2015. Ulrich, who shoots right, is a right winger and comes from the Saskatoon Blades. He stands at 6’1 and weighs 197 pounds. Uhrich was born on February 3, 1996 in Rosetown, SK.

Uhrich began his career in 2012 with the Moose Jaw Warriors. He played with the Warriors in both the 2012 to 2013 and the 2013 to 2014 seasons. He joined the Blades in the 2014 to 2015 season. In his career, he has played a total of 225 games. He has scored 24 goals and made a total of 31 assists, totaling 55 career points. He has racked up 310 penalty minutes in all four seasons. With the Blades this year alone, he played in 27 games. He made four goals and three assists with Saskatoon, totaling seven points for this season.

Uhrich penned a heartfelt goodbye to his Saskatoon fans, saying that he will never forget his amazing experience as a Blade. He thanked the fans as well as the coaches, his teammates and all of the Saskatoon Blades management team. He also expressed great enthusiasm for joining the T-Birds, writing about how he is thrilled to become a Thunderbird. He ended the note with an upbeat, “Let’s win some hockey games!”

Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell actually mentioned Uhrich’s enthusiasm when he broke the news to the press, complimenting him not only on his energetic exuberance but also his physical nature, praising the youth for his experience. Farwell is confident that he will be a valuable asset to the team as the T-Birds enter the second half of the season.

Fans can follow Uhrich and get to know him better at his Twitter feed at @96uhrich. The young man’s Twitter information simply reads, “#28 of the Saskatoon Blades ~ Earned, Never Given ~ Instagram – Joshuhrich.” Uhrich has received several messages of congratulations for joining with the Seattle Thunderbirds, including the tweet from fellow player Brycen Martin, “The T-Birds just got one great soldier.”
