Is John Lackey a Traitor?

LOL!  A 1-vote poll and 1,500 people jump on the vote button :- )

The Angels always make “serious runs” at top free agents every year but really they are being used to drive up the prices of players for the competing teams. Then the Angels settle for a few useful veterans to fill out the line-up just enough to get them a few games into the post season and that is it.

.

Hey, it's called Price Enforcing, dude.  Live with it.  You bid 80% of value the first 150 players, and then you cherrypick huge bargains at the end.

Oh, wait.  That, or you get Kelly Johnson at the end.  Works that way in roto, too.

I’d like to re-enact a scene from Predator that captures my rage… I will play the part of Dutch, and John will be Dillon.

Me: What happened to you, John? You used to be someone I could trust.
John: I woke up. Why don’t you? You’re an asset. An expendable asset. And I used you to get the job done, got it?

End scene.

We all know what happens to big john by the end of this movie…. TRY PITCHING WITH ONE ARM, $!$@

.

Any further commentary would devalue the moment.

Being blind from rage makes it harder to type

Honestly, I’m really surprised with some of these choices players and owners make. It seems that this stuff happens without putting virtually any weight into how crappy this kind of stuff makes some fans feel.

Thanks Gomer, hope you enjoy bean town, and I hope they hate you when you get there

Re-living the ARod Experience.  Maybe Lackey will announce that he hopes to go into the Hall of Fame in a Red Sox cap.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, sniffing under the table hopefully to see if Capt Jack let any crumbs fall to the floor... who'da thunk it...

(Angels' fan comment about Lee merely replacing Bedard and Washburn.  Reply was:)

You still have to factor in what all the other pitchers did. You can’t just use the W’s stat, say Lee will replace two pitchers total W’s….It’s just a meaningless comment.

The proper way to look at it is that Lee replaces whoever they were going to use as their 5th starter. Just like the proper way to look at the Angels losing Lackey is that O’Sullivan or Palmer will replace him.

I'll cheerfully admit that this one-day, -10 between Seattle and LA hadn't quite occurred to me that way.  :- )  Oh, ok, keep typing guys.  Now I get it.

While he certainly won’t be a one-man savior, to say he won’t win against the Rangers and Angels is ridiculous. You obviously don’t remember this?

.

An Angels' fan providing his grieving comrades a delicious link to Game One of the Series.  Very sympathetic.

…the tears of love lost. Forever. She now ponders her future…what could have been. What he promised. What now can never be.

Big Thunder has taken his last ride.

She hangs her head in shame…and weeps some more. He…he…betrayed me!

And some of you guys thought Lackey was overrated ;- )

I for one want to buy a ticket for the game where Lackey pitches at Angel Stadium. I want to give him what he deserves a massive booing. He turned his back on the Angels and the fans that supported him. He went to enemy he spent 6 years fighting they finally won a battle and he jumps ship. He is a traitor. The Angels brought him up and helped become the pitcher he is today. I hope he sucks this year.

.

ARod STILL gets showers of play money from the third deck when he shows up here...

Have no idea what a traitor is!

But we definitely have a good idea of what they're feelin', bro...
Let's see, Lackey's only 1/4, 1/3 of the way to the HOF.  Guess we can't hope for any remarks about caps at his press conference.

I think there is one man to blame for Lackey not staying in Anaheim.  MIKE SCOSCIA.  I love Scoscia as a manager, but he really...really screwed up big time yanking Lackey as early as he did in two different post-season games this year.  Lackey was FURIOUS over it...that much I know for sure.
