As noted yesterday, the higher-level clubs are on their All-Star Break as well.
High-A -- High Desert 1, Stockton 0 -- Box
Another Cal League pitchers' duel! Then again, it's Stockton.
High Desert park factor: 125
Stockton park factor: 95

But not to take anything away from Cameron Hobson:
6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K
Hobson was in the original 2012 "26intheMix" but dropped out after lukewarm results last year. The lefty is still trying to get over the Cal League hump, but performances like Monday's will be a big help.
It was a scoreless tie until the 9th, when the Mavericks finally pieced together a rally with Nathan Melendres (Watch List) singling, Kevin Rivers doubling, and Patrick Kivlehan (Talk40 #33) getting the RBI sac fly.
Low-A -- South Bend 8, Clinton 2 -- Box
The Silver Hawks of South Bend jumped on Charles Kaalekahi (26intheMix) early, and then beat up on the bullpen a bit too.
Kaalekahi: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
The LumberKings got just one extra-base hit, a triple from Jabari Henry (26intheMix).
Henry in April/May: .366/.484/.594 (BABIP .379)
Henry in June/July: .217/.327/.362 (BABIP .257)
Ouch. Some reversal of fortune there, but the ISO drop indicates he's not hitting the ball as hard as well.
Short Season-A -- Vancouver 13, Everett 1 -- Box
A couple of bright spots:
- Even though Tyler Smith gave up six runs in 2.2 IP, only one was an earned run. Smith, you may recall, had 10 strikeouts in his last appearance (the "guys named Tyler" spotlight). He got five this time, which is pretty good considering he only got eight outs.
- D.J. Peterson returned after sitting for almost a week. He went 0-for-3, but drew a walk.
OK ... there's your bright spots right there.
Rookie -- Pulaski 7, Bluefield 6 -- Box
Hope you like strikeouts:
- Eddie Campbell: 4.2 IP, 7 K
- Leoncio Munoz: 2.0 IP, 5 K
- Emilio Pagan: 2.1 IP, 4 K
That adds up to 16 K. Trust me, except in Pagan's case, the rest of the linescores are not as impressive (Campbell 3 ER; Munoz 3 ER).
I still feel bad for adding various caveats and disclaimers to Campbell's 10-strikeout outing last time, so I'll note that he's up to 15.3 K/9, and Pagan is right behind at 14.4.
[By the way, that's only good for second and third in the organization. Leading is 24th-round pick Kevin McCoy of Kennesaw State, who's struck out 15 of 34 batters faced for a 16.9 K/9 rate in Arizona.]
AZL Rookie -- Padres 4, Mariners 1 -- Box
Renewal of the heated "Peoria Complex Rivalry!"
And it was the debut of another youthful Brazilian pitcher with Japanese roots and training: Daniel Missaki.
But 17-year-old Missaki, at 6-0, 170, is not the Sabathia-clone that Luiz Gohara (Talk40 #21) is. And he's a righty.
He only got to face five batters in his debut. He got two fly outs, then gave up a pair of singles before an error loaded the bases. I don't know if he was supposed to go deeper, or if the plan was to just give him a taste. Anyway, reliever Zack Littell induced a ground ball to end the inning, so Missaki was unscathed.
Jesus Montero was a first base and got a single and a walk.
Looking Ahead
With the MLB All-Star Game going on, only Everett has a game scheduled. Its pitcher has not been named.
