I'm back "on vector" today.
And there's enough news to break it out to a separate post. So I'll do so.
AAA -- Tacoma 1, Colorado Springs 0 [11 innings] -- Box
You can probably guess from the linescore that this one was in Tacoma and not Colorado Springs (where the Rainiers love to score in bunches).
Yes, in fact, the Tacoma side of the pitchers' duel was Hector Noesi: 6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K.
Reality Check: Yes, in fact, that pitching line belongs to Hector Noesi.
Actually, it fits with the "Gordon Theory" that Noesi is a good pitcher so long as no one is on base.
Abraham Almonte (26intheMix) had three hits and a walk, and it was the latter that kicked up the game-winning rally in the bottom of the 11th. Almonte scored when Carlos Peguero (Watch List) beat out a potential double-play ball that would have sent the game to the 12th if C-Peg hadn't beat the throw.
Our man Ji-Man Choi (Talk40 #19) was 0-for-4 in his AAA debut (see news).
AA -- Jackson 3, Mobile 2 [7 innings] -- Box
AA -- Jackson 6, Mobile 3 [7 innings] -- Box
No, Choi was not in two places at once. The first game was a continuation of a suspended game from August 6. So Choi started, but wasn't there for the end.
Ramon Morla homered in the 6th for the key run.
The second victory proved costly (see news), but John Hicks (Talk40 #27) had a good outing with a key double plus a single and a walk.
Low-A -- Clinton 9, Kane County 2 -- Box
Tyler Pike (Talk40 #14) hadn't pitched in three weeks, so he was limited to two innings, but he did just fine: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.
Janelfry Zorrilla paced the offense with a double and two singles.
Alfredo Morales had a single and three walks.
Short Season-A -- Eugene 5, Everett 4 -- Box
Austin Power! We haven't seen tons of it yet, but Austin Wilson got his third homer. He's slugging .331, so we're still working on unlocking that potential.
Christian Carmichael (Watch List) had two singles and a walk.
Rookie -- Bluefield 8, Pulaski 4 -- Box
Pulaski jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Blue Jays climbed back on top against Eddie Campbell (4.1 IP, 6 ER).
Catcher Toby DeMello had a double, a single and a steal.
Looking Ahead
Edwin Diaz (Talk40 #36) is slated for Pulaski.
