Huge sporting weekend over Memorial Day weekend, Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, European Champions League final, plus the slew of baseball games that were played around the country.

It was a big weekend for Husky Athletics as well with many wins on the field, and changes off it.

First, the women's golf team came back from Eugene, Ore. with the biggest of wins (something the Husky football team hasn't been able to do, but that's another story) brining home the NCAA Women's Golf Championship to Montlake. They gave women's golf head coach Mary Lou Mulflur the most fitting of endings to her 33 years leading her alma mater.

A perfect ending to one career, as well as a perfect beginning to another. The most significant off-field change had to be the hiring of Jennifer Cohen as athletic director. Cohen had been serving as interim athletic director since January, when previous AD Scott Woodward announced his departure for Texas A&M. Cohen has spnt the last 18 years working at the University of Washington and is a Tacoma native.

Even though it's the thick of their offseason, the basketball program had some news, with Matisse Thybulle being named to the Pac-12 All-Star team that will travel to Australia to play against the Australian National team and another semi-pro team. Thybulle, a sophomore who started all 34 games as a freshman last season is one of 10 players on the team. The team will travel to Melbourne and play two games against the likes of Andrew Bogut and the national team, in their preparation for the Olympic games in Rio de Janiero this summer.

Finally in baseball, Lindsey Meggs' program can let out a sigh of relief as they earned a berth in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, traveling to Nashville, Tenn. for their regional tournament. It marks the second time in three years the program has earned a postseason berth, and the second time in Meggs' seven years at the helm.

Widely viewed as a bubble team after they failed to take the Pac-12 Championship in their weekend series on the road at Utah, the Huskies held their berath as they saw teams coming off the board Tuesday morning. In Nashville the Dawgs will face no. 2 seed UC Santa Barbara who finished third in the Big West conference. 

Within Washington's group there's UC Santa Barbara of course, Big East champion Xavier and no. 1 seed Vanderbilt. Last time the Huskies made the tournament, they went 2-2 in the Oxford, Miss. regional in 2014.
