Number 18 is already known for his victory dance

A Midfielder from Minas Gerais, Brazil, Thomas is Sounders number 18. He stands at 5’10 and weighs 160 pounds. Thomas is a young player, born on February 24, 1993 and new to the Sounders as of 2015. Fans now that his name is pronounced “Toe MOS,” and that the player goes by his first name only. His real full name is Thomás Jaguaribe Bedinelli. He started playing professional soccer in 2011 at Flamengo, where he appeared nine times and started in four of those. He continued with Flamengo for two more years, setting a career high of 12 starts and 909 minutes in 2012.

In 2014, Thomas went on loan to Ponte Preta. He made it through 13 starts and scored the only goal of his career up to that point. Thomas also went on loan to an Italian club the same year, playing for Robur Siena. In the former experience, he had 618 minutes, while in the latter he played 99 minutes.

Thomas signed with the Sounders in June of 2015. His honors and award include the 8 Nations International Tournament in 2012 in Brazil, the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior in 2011 and the Rio de Janeiro State League in 2010. Sounders FC General Manager called Thomas a “dynamic attacking player” who, even at age 22, has a wide scope of experience to bring to the team.

His record with the Sounders as of 2015 is already more solid, with 11 games played and 7 goals scored. Thomas enjoyed his first goal in          August of this year when the Sounders played Orlando City SC at CenturyLink Field. Roman Torres sent Thomas a pass that he took so swiftly and so deftly that goalkeeper Tally Hall did not even try to block it and prevent the goal.

When interviewed following his first score, Thomas expressed his joy through a translator, saying that the goal made him a very happy man. He explained that he had been “chasing” that goal for a long time, but it just was not working out for him during the game. He then went on to say that he had been feeling more confident during this particular game and that he hopes he continues to play well for the Sounders.

Fans at the game roared for his victory dance, as well as for the Sounders’ 4-0 victory.

Thomas has a P-1 Visa and an International Transfer Certificate.
