At Klat.com there is a page that delivers the kind of look we'll probably have pretty shortly -- distinct blogs on one side, Shout Box down the right, middle tile section --
Then when you click on a particular blog, you actually get a 'blog' ...
=== Style and Substance ===
You'll notice today that the front-page "article tiles" are tagged. For example, the "Nothing to See Here" article has a "Postgame" tag. Mouseclicking for Dummies, Dept:
- If you click the tile, you bring up the article.
- If you click the tag itself, you bring up the "Postgame Blog."
Give 'er a li'l dance, pard. Clicking the Postgame Blog tag brings up each related article, in a "blog" unto its own. Later, the style will be enhanced. A tag-click will bring up a spiffy page unto itself, maybe color-themed and whatnot, but for now the index will do us just fine …
At this Klat page there is an advance look at the kind of functionality that's in the hopper.
Here, let's try with on the "Zen" tag on the "Memorial Day" article. A list of esoteric subjects, such as "Nicklaus: Never Hit a Quit Shot," and Gordon's "Boston Tragedy" article, and so forth. Great. If I were in the mood for something unrelated to current Mariner woes, here's some baseball/sports/cultural stuff. Of course, the conversations can flow off this in distinctive ways.
You might (or, more likely, might not) be interested in egg-hunting the tags, to see which ones lurk ... there's a "Hottest Groks," "Players of the Day," "Sabermetrics" and so forth.
All this would be far more interesting if major league baseball were played in our city, but you're a hardball addict, so you got no choice. Read baseball; that's your fate. Trudge on through the Mariners shtick, sad as it may sound.

=== Much More Importantly ===
The real reason that Klat is launching this concept of "Pyramid Blogs" is to --- > get some real writers into this dive.
At SeattleSportsInsider, there is now a Gordon Gross blog, and a Spectator blog (Mariners Prospect Talk). Boom, SSI expands by Spectator's entire audience, and by all past, present and future G-Moneyball fans. Now we know how the Yankees can afford three $25M benchies. Just annex the local TV rights and you're golden.
Jim ... er, Spectator ... is a real pleasure to work with, and he/Gordon have been talking about doing a baseball book with the three of us. Sounds like millions to me. While we pass the time waiting for the movie rights to sell, his MarinerStalk work has built up a real following.
You may ::shrug:: and just keep clicking the front tiles, as you did before, because G-Money / Spectator / Dr. D are so similar in voice and approach that you could afford to ignore the differences if you liked. (Dr. D has no problem whatsoever with dealing compliments to himself, as you may have noticed a time or two.)
On the other hand, if you like to noodle around within certain themes, this Blue Eyes White Dragon / Nested Blogs Dominate City idea could be the future of the internet. One stop shopping and seamless one-click jumpoffs to whatever grabs you that day. You might check the "Guest Posts" tag, er, blog for an array of recent kibitzes by super-posters.
Right now, I'm feeling pretty Tacoma Rainiers. Think I'll click on Spectator's tag and wallow in his shtick for a awhile.

Klat is seemingly an impressive outfit. Innovation in the blog space is difficult but they are pushing the envelope. Very cool.
think Topher Grace, public offerings and 'ain't no thang' :- )
The more you get into blog writing for fun and blog writing for blood, the more you run into editors who are more like Sarah Silverman than Amy Adams. Not the case at Klat, can tell yer that much.
