I had never really thought about it until last weekend. But as soon as my friend asked if I had heard about the deal with cheap angora from China, I felt a familiar sinking sensation.
Angora comes from a particular breed of rabbit (a very fluffy breed). One reason why angora is so expensive is that it is not shorn or clipped off the rabbits the way that sheep's wool is. You have to comb it off the rabbit by hand, which is a very time consuming and labor intensive practice.
Last year Lay's had some success with their "Do Us A Flavor" promotion, which yielded the user-generated flavors Chicken and Waffles, Cheesy Garlic Bread, and Sriracha. These chips went to market and proved fairly successful.
This year, the return of their promo involves a Chip Flavor Generator, and the internet has responded predictably, with hilarious flavors like Frog? (pictured above), Bucket of Tears, and more. Years ago, I used to print and make gifts to include in Wood Sprite’s Christmas stocking, Easter basket and other gifts.
