The best parks in St. Louis

When it comes time to get out of the house, a local park is a great way to enjoy the outdoors without spending a lot of money. Here are our top three picks for the best parks in the St. Louis area.

Forest Park

This huge, 1,300-acre park is the setting for the zoo, the history museum, the science center, and miles of great paved trails. It also has a big playground, if the kids need to work off some extra energy.

Seeing the Unusual Side of Houston

For those that enjoy getting out and taking tours of their city, the next time the urge strikes you, try one of Houston’s more unusual tour options. A guided tour of the Beer Can House is one thing that every Houston resident should check out at least once, if only to say that they’ve been there. Or indulge a fascination with death by touring the National Museum of Funerary History. See old hearses, exhibitions on funerary practices and even buy a t-shirt when you’re done. And if you’re the more adventurous type, try seeing the city from a biplane by taking a flying tour.

Relaxing Walks in Denver

Sometimes the best way to spend time with your special someone is to just take a day out to go for a walk. Whether you stick to the city or head out into nature, there are many beautiful places to stretch your legs. If you want to stick close to downtown, try a stroll through RiversideCemetery. This old burial ground has a lot of history behind it and can be quite interesting. Or try a walk around Capitol Hill to see the state capitol and other interesting historic buildings.

See Why?

Poster BSR sez, "Is it just me, or does it feel like Felix has hit Unit/Pedro level?"  It does, because he has.  That's coming from a long-time Felix skeptic, as it were.

CY is the opposite.  :- )   Every start, it feels like here's where it all turns into a pumpkin.  Monday:

  • Leadoff walk, 4 pitches
  • Double, blasted into the power alley, 1-0 Jays
  • Jose Bautista -- who just tater'ed Felix last night -- up

And Dr. D started hitting the quintuple fast forward.  Six runs, minimum.  But you See Why this guy is tough in Safeco:

  • Three precision FB's, right on the black, to Bautista ... followed by a slurve, just off the black ... skied to RF, in Safeco
  • Fans the cleanup hitter, Lind, on a fastball at the letters
  • Works Navarro Up-n-Down, Up-n-Down, for 8 pitches, pops him up on the infield

The fact is, a located FB is a bread-and-butter pitch in Safeco.  There's a certain foolproof* quality to Young's game when he's in a big park.

The best New Orleans parks

New Orleans has history, tourism, and great food in spades. What many people don’t realize is that it also has a ton of great parks. Here are our top three picks for the best parks in New Orleans.

Audubon Park

A former sugar plantation, Audubon Park began as the site of the World’s Fair in 1884. Since then it has been developed into a place filled with winding paths, lagoons, and – as you might expect – a profusion of wildlife, including birds as well as native turtles.

Take a Day Out for a Picnic

The next time you have a day to waste, spend it with your special someone having a relaxing picnic in Nashville. These are just a few of the great spots that you can check out. CentennialPark is probably one of the best known places to go. You can have a picnic whenever you want and there’s a good chance that something else entertaining will be going on as well.

What would Bob Barker say?

OK:  I'm sure somone will  do a more complete review of this.  But I'll jump in.  At first blush:

1.  We could have had Price for Franklin and Walker/Paxton.  You can deduce that, I think.  We held on to our young arms.  Could we have got Price for Franklin and Elias?  Ah....Don't know.  Likely not.  Undoubtedly, the Rays valued Smyly more than Elias.
