In the first Sims game, it was hard to make money. I remember sending my Sims to work, day after day, saving up to buy the best hot tub. Remodels also required many Sim days - sometimes weeks - of saving in order to finance. For Sims 2, Maxis changed the economics so that it became ridiculously easy to accumulate vast amounts of Sim wealth.
Now there’s a gripping headline for a task. Sure, you might think, I’ll wear a pink ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I’ll wear a red one on World AIDS Day… but rebuild my life? No thanks. Too much work. I will go back to my workaholic, eat-a-holic, sleepless, haphazard self, thanks.
Whether you’re tired of hearing about how your ovaries are growing cobwebs, how you need to “find a man” before you develop varicose veins, or you just want to do something new, it’s time to start something new; something… creative.
If you want your Sim to hit the top of his or her career ladder, the first thing you need to do is get their skills up as quickly as possible. Once your Sim takes a job, there will be precious little time for skill building, so start them early!
Your work as a slavedriver begins when they age to Child. Obviously they need to keep their homework done enough to prevent the Social Worker from showing up. Focus on having your child Sim do just enough homework to maintain a C or B grade. This will leave them with enough free time to engage in skilling.
Once you have successfully impregnated your female Sim, you will want to watch her carefully until she gives birth. I have had female Sims nearly die of hunger on me before, because I wasn't paying enough attention.
(And by the way, elder female Sims cannot get pregnant. However, elder male Sims are still fertile, and can impregnate younger female Sims.)
