There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding the hotel and B&B alternative, Airbnb. Most of that comes from already existing accommodations that don’t like the extra competition. There are also some concerns about how to regulate such things, particularly regarding health and safety issues. But Airbnb continues to operate and one individual in NYC has even managed to make more than $60,000 off of renting her place. Unfortunately, she’s been renting out a rent-controlled, government-subsidized apartment.
