Maison DuPuy

It seems as if all the best romantic hotels of New Orleans are in the French Quarter and the Maison DuPuy is no exception.  This accommodation is beautiful both inside and out, blending an historic feel with modern convenience.  It’s just far enough from the majority of the nightlife to remain intimate, yet close enough for easy access.  The Maison DuPuy offers couples a heated salt-water pool, courtyard dining, a fitness room and even, for those that can’t make up their minds, a personal concierge service to help you organize your stay

Le Richelieu in the French Quarter

Le Richelieu is a nice, quaint alternative to some of the hotels in New Orleans’ French Quarter.  The great location is in a quieter area and so still retains that intimate feel that is essential for a romantic getaway.  With a reasonable price tag to boot, a stay at the Le Richelieu can be the perfect choice for couples.  On-site, there is a lounge, café and a salt water swimming pool, along with helpful and knowledgeable staff that can point you in the right direction to find something more lively.  They even feature special hone

Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans

The Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans is the very definition of high-class and high-quality.  Known as the “Jewel of the French Quarter” this sprawling complex is located right on Bourbon Street, in the heart of the famous French Quarter.  A beautiful building designed in both European and New Orleans traditions, this hotel is a great place for couples to spend a romantic holiday.  You can spend your time relaxing in the tropical courtyards, gardens and pools, or take in some of the fine dini

For couples that wish to explore the heart of New Orleans’ world famous French Quarter, there are few better places to stay than the Cornstalk Hotel.  Located centrally in this famous neighborhood, Cornstalk is a 200-year-old house converted to a hotel.  The interior is decorated with antiques and is just as amazing as the exterior.  Couples can enjoy some quiet time on the private terrace or in the tropical gardens and when ready to explore the French Quarter’s nightlife, the staff is a knowledgeable and helpful source of

The Rusting Six Flags Park in New Orleans

As a kid, I grew up a short drive away from SixFlagsMagicMountain down in Southern California.  Later I would discover that Six Flags had parks all over the place and, recently, that some of those parks didn’t quite make it.  One particular project, Six Flags New Orleans (also known as Jazzland) is located in Eastern New Orleans and, due to extensive flooding, is now little more than rusting roller coasters and rotting buildings.

The CW makes decisions on major shows

'Tis the season for cancellations, sadly, and several fans of some huge CW shows can now exhale. The network has announced that several notable series' will return next season, though some are still on the bubble, so to speak. We already knew that Arrow was renewed (and rightly so), and The Vampire Diaries' return is an absolute no brainer, but I was a bit concerned about a couple of my favorites, Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast.

Paul George wins 2013 NBA Most Improved Player Award

It only seems fitting that after becoming only the second player in franchise history to record a playoff triple-double, he would get some recognition. After delivering a stat line of 23 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds in the Indiana Pacers playoff win over the Atlanta Hawks, Paul George was officially awarded the NBA Most Improved Player Award. He joins the ranks of Danny Granger, Jermaine O”Neal and Jalen Rose among Indiana Pacers who have won the award.

Boring name, but exciting implications

Ask any fan of college sports about the NCAA Football system, and you know what they’ll tell you? For lack of euphemism, they’ll tell you BCS bowl system is a crock of shit. While this may be harsh, unless your team is in one of the super conferences or has an incredible season that involves destroying a big market team, there is a very small chance they’ll play for a championship, deserving or not. While it has been an uphill battle to get the NCAA to look into a playoff system (the issue was so big it even made it to U.S. congress), prayers of the fateful fan may have been answered.
