Will a new 'Friday Night Lights' movie happen?

Just a couple of months ago, the Kickstarter campaign to fund a Veronica Mars movie made huge headlines. Donations were crazy good, and within a matter of hours, more than $2 million was raised. That got everyone's attention, especially Hollywood. Back then, I wondered what other potential film projects we'd see financed via this type of crowd sourcing.

Review: Carrie (1976)

Upon hearing that there was a remake of Stephen King’s Carrie coming out later this year, I felt the strange desire within myself to go back and watch the original.  As a young teen, I was a huge King fan, although I never ended up reading Carrie for some reason.  The movie, at least as far as my memory served, was a scary film and it lurked in the back of my mind as some sort of horror classic.  Now that I've gone back and rewatched it, I realize that I have been under a serious delusion all these years.

The tragic temptations of Clipperton Island

Hundreds of miles south of the tip of Baja lies a small island. Just outside the boundaries of Mexican waters, the shallow ring of land has been disputed through history. The curiosities of the movie industry

This week I bring you some interesting news from the movie world, some of it barely believable.  With all things in Hollywood, there comes a point where someone is either trying way too hard to capitalize or where their love of something takes it over the edge of what seems sane.  This last month has been especially ripe with these sorts of events.  Namely, the arrival of a university-level class on none-other-than Batman and the invention of a new type of movie experience, complete with smell.

Rancho Santa Fe’s secret architect, Lilian J. Rice

Picture a sleepy, little farming community about 100 miles south of Hollywood at the turn of the last century. Warm winds flow over the rolling hills where a native Indian and Spanish ranch heritage rest. All that changed in a few decades as railroad barons and gentlemen farmers decided it would be the perfect place to retire.

The CW makes decisions on major shows

'Tis the season for cancellations, sadly, and several fans of some huge CW shows can now exhale. The network has announced that several notable series' will return next season, though some are still on the bubble, so to speak. We already knew that Arrow was renewed (and rightly so), and The Vampire Diaries' return is an absolute no brainer, but I was a bit concerned about a couple of my favorites, Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast.
