Kelly Clarkson vs. Clive Davis: The feud gets nasty

Let's get one thing out right now: Clive Davis is one of the all-time heavyweights in the music industry. His legacy includes some of the biggest artists in history. Just this week, Davis released his new memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life, and the book is getting a lot of attention. Now, it's also prompting a very public and very nasty feud with none other than American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. Why?

Have you heard the Alabama Shakes? If you answered "yes" to that question, than I really don't need to tell you anything more. You're nodding your head, I see you. If you said "no," well then, listen up: This is a band you need to hear. Now.

Just a few short years ago, Alabama Shakes lead singer Brittany Howard was working as a postal worker in rural Alabama, with big dreams of making music. She and band mates Zac Cockrell and Steve Johnson toiled away at rehearsals, and eventually, they were discovered.

With the 85th Academy Awards literally a week away, I am once again considering some possible outcomes. I've already shared my thoughts on what may happen with Best Picture, but I thought it high time to discuss the major acting category that interests me the most this year: Best Actress.

The web TV revolution

Personally, I’m a picky adapter when it comes to embracing new technologies and making them a complete part of my everyday life.  I can barely figure out how to send texts on my cell phone due to the fact that I almost never turn the thing on.  At the same time, however, I am very much a fan of one particular change that is overtaking the world: The coming of the web TV generation.  Considering how much I hate the way regular TV functions, it was only natural that I should be attracted to this new liberated format, and the world should look at embracing it as well, for web TV is the future.

New music this week from two heavy-hitting bands

February is usually not my favorite month for new music or movies. It's kind of a wasteland, really. However, two huge bands are giving us a taste of great things to come this week. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs released a teaser for their forthcoming album, Mosquito, and The Strokes dropped a brand new single. I'd say that's a good week, wouldn't you?
