Three colorful reasons to visit Flores in Indonesia

While Flores hasn't become as popular as better known islands like Bali or Java, it has started to become a favorite of the backpacker crowd. With endless places to dive and snorkel, as well as some amazing inland scenery, Flores is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself heading to Indonesia. With that being said, one must-stop destination should be the town of Moni to visit Kelimutu Volcano.

Classic board games for your Kindle Fire

I'm only 31 years old, but I have no interest in most video games or even game apps. I never was much for video games as a child either. Despite that oddity, I always enjoyed a good board game. We usually played these games when the weather was too bad to go outside or when the electricity was off. If you'd like to take a trip down memory lane with me, download these three board game apps to your Kindle. You'll be glad you did.

Emma Coburn is playing for keeps

After spending last summer in London participating in the 2012 Olympic Games, you figured maybe Emma Coburn would want a quiet summer. Though Colorado is known for skiing, summertime in Colorado is one of the most beautiful times to visit. Her hometown of Crested Butte isn’t too shabby to see in the warm weather either. Though this would suffice for some, the University of Colorado steepler has bigger fish to fry than catching rays at high altitude.

Frugal Memorial Day weekend activities

Memorial Day was one of my favorite holidays as I was growing up. As I got older, I realized the significance of the day and did my best to honor and remember those who've given their lives in military service. Still, the day is somewhat of a summer kick-off for many. It's a long weekend, school is nearly over and summer is almost here. If you're looking for some frugal activities to do over the long weekend, try one or more of these suggestions. Don't forget to pay your respects to the fallen, too.

In case of emergency Android apps

Do you know what to do if you're in a survival situation? That could be anything from a natural disaster to a zombie apocalypse to the tune of Walking Dead. All joking aside, these are useful apps to have in case of an emergency. Remember to keep your cell phones charged as much as possible. You never know when the electricity may go out, and if you're one of the millions who no longer uses a landline, you'd be out of luck. Here are three FREE must-have Android apps for emergencies.

Birding apps for iPhone and Android

It's a bird…it's a plane…it's…wait, if you don't know what it is, you could probably use the help of these apps. From amateur to ornithologist, there are several apps on the iOS, Android and other markets that you can use to identify birds. Back in the day, I went on a few bird tracking outings in the field with a college professor and some other students and found it very interesting. I had a hard time identifying birds, and apps like these certainly would have made it much easier than flipping through a field guide.
