Are you familiar with Free Homeschool Deals? It’s a wonderful website that provides parents, teachers and homeschoolers with daily deals and freebies. It does have a lot of Christian links, so if you’re secular folks like we are you may want to skip some deals here and there—but overall it’s a really great site to follow.
Yesterday I shared a link about how we discount a huge component of Finland’s education system—equality over excellence—that may make it one of the most effective systems in the world. This news is old, but it does remain relevant.

This was a fairly good episode all in all. Coulda been better, coulda been worse. (It forms an interesting and somewhat jarring contrast to the episode where Francine and Stan each get their own Steve, and Francine insists on raising him with a completely relaxed, indulgent, hands-off parenting style.) But let's talk about Jeff Fischer for a moment, because that's becoming a big thing this season.

When you think of a Nordic winter afternoon, "Good time for a baby to take a nap outside" may not be the first thought to spring to mind. While I still maintain that Shrek Forever After is one of the best films in the franchise—perhaps the second best, after the first film—that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have anything wrong with it. It’s darker than the rest of the movies in many instances, and Fiona is badass, which are pluses for this viewer (thought he former isn’t necessarily that great for children).
