#Colorado replaced him in RF with Cuddyer. #Oakland replaced him at DH/LF with Callaspo and to some extent (his PA's) with a 29 year old Vogt, who had 175 not really impressive MLB PA's under his belt. SD replaced him in LF with a more athletic (Gee!) Justin Upton. OK, we're not finding an Upton, but the other guy-types can be found. He's likely ours and I'm not bothered about that. But DiPoto likes those Upton types.

I would praise a guy too, if I was trading him? :) (kidding!) Smith also lengthened the lineup for #Colorado, #Oakland and #San_Diego.....and they all traded him. #Colorado traded him for a young RP and a young SP. One has been out of the majors since '13 and the other since '14. They were expendable types. #Oakland traded him for RP Luke Gregerson (who just had a great year with #Houston). #San_Diego traded to us him for Maurer. Clearly he's not untouchable, despite his ability to lengthen the lineup.

BTW, Rick, I had suggested Elias+ for Ozuna last year too. ;-) ! Now that Ozuna has shown his abilities in CF and then gotten into Loria's doghouse it may come about this time. I also wanted Rob Brantly and Mark Canha in that trade - Canha turned out quite nicely for a late bloomer - too bad it was for #Oakland! Brantly ended up as the #3 catcher for the White Sox. Having him around as a LH-hitting catcher might have helped ease the strain on Zunino. We'll never know.

Ugh. Just looked for the first time at the overall MLB standings by winning percentage. In the AL we are "ahead of" (=behind) only #Oakland and #Boston. BUT. There are six, count 'em, SIX really bad teams in the NL, with winning percentages lower than #Boston.I'm not up on draft matters like most around here, but that puts us somewhere around ninth in the draft order if the season finished today.
Not to worry, though. I guess it probably doesn't matter much, since whoever we draft usually ends up busting anyway.
