7 gut reactions from MNF
  1. Our O-line, is terrible.

Nothing new stated there, but they are consistently letting sub-par pass rushers look like pro bowlers each and every week. I’m not sure how they’re going to improve enough for Cincinnati next week, but I hope Pete Carroll and Tom Cable do.

What hasn’t been talked about as much is the loss of Zach Miller. When the Seahawks acquired Jimmy Graham, everyone knew Graham’s blocking struggles, and many are quick to ask if we should have kept Max Unger. What many forget to ask is if we should have resigned Zach Miller.

Ever since Miller arrived in Seattle he has been used in essence, as a sixth offensive lineman. As the Hawks have never really had an above average line in the Carroll era, with Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson have covered up the o-line’s shortcomings. Now with Miller gone, our tight end unit is fairly pedestrian in terms of blocking. Jimmy Graham we all know is what he is, and Luke Willson while extremely athletic, is not known for his blocking either, making Miller’s departure even more profound.

2. Let’s hope Tyler Lockett just had an off day

For the first time all year Tyler Lockett looked ineffective on special teams. Obviously the muffed punt was his fault, but on a day that the team could have really used a spark, Lockett wasn’t able to provide one. Hopefully it doesn’t mean teams have started to find a way to neutralize him.

3. Cary Williams had his best game as a Seahawk

Welcome to the team Cary! Sure he had the strip-sack TD in Week 1, but this week was his biggest challenge, shutting down Megatron, Calvin Johnson. With Johnson lining up on his side on what seemed like a majority of the snaps Williams helped render him ineffective for most of the contest. Jon Gruden even gave him a shout out, thus confirming his performance.

4. The lack of turnovers the secondary has been unable to produce is alarming.

And as I write that down Kam forces Megatron to fumble at the goal line. Ok never mind, but still where are the interceptions?

5. Russell Wilson was the reason we won.

Granted he did lose two fumbles, but how many sacks did he avoid with his elusiveness? I wouldn’t be surprised if he saved another fumble in the process. Any other quarterback in the league would not have been able to avoid as many sacks as he did, as the sack total could have been at least double if say, Carson Palmer was the QB. Through it all he threw the ball well and made clutch play after clutch play. He definitely earned his paycheck.

6.How does Michael Bennett not understand the salary cap?

After the game during Kam Chancellor’s postgame interview Bennett yelled out, “pay him!” Citing how Paul Allen is the 17th richest man in the world. What is mindboggling is that Bennett doesn’t understand that Allen couldn’t pay him more even if he wanted to. I’m not going to waste any more time going into it, but come on man.

7. And maybe my initial Rawls reaction was premature.

Come on Rawls go off for 150 next week and prove me right!
