Learn a bit about player #16

Seattle Thunderbirds center player Alexander True started his career in Denmark, where he played in three different leagues during the 2013-2014 season. During his 16 games with the Rungsted U17 team, he scored 62 points between 38 goals and 24 assists. Following this record, he received a second division promotion to the Rungsted IK team.

Shooting left, True weighs 196 pounds and is 6’4.5 tall. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, True’s birthday is July 17, 1997, making him newly eligible for NHL draft picks this year. Thunderbirds manager Russ Farwell introduced True as a Thunderbird last year, on December 10, 2014. That winter he was able to play in the World Junior A Challenge in Kindersley, Saskatchewan as well as the 2015 World Junior Championship.

While with the Rungsted IK team, True was able to score 10 goals and make 12 assists, earning him 22 points in the 25 games he played. He was also given the opportunity to play in six games at the U18 World Championship in Finland.

Since joining the Thunderbirds in the 2014-2015 season, True has maintained stats of 17 points, including 10 goals and 7 assists. He has had 19 PIM in his 44 games played. He has boasted both two and three-point streaks as well as an assist streak during this season, one from November 30 to December 5 and another from November 7 to November 12.

Unfortunately, True injured his arm during the 2014-2015 season, resulting in a heavy loss of playing time during the season. Even so, he was able to play during all six of the playoff games that season. True scored two goals during those games.

During the regular season, True was present at 38 games, with six goals and six assists under his belt. He also had 14 penalty minutes.

Along with Matthew Barzal, True was involved in a power play in the recent October 17 game against the Kamloops Blazers during the second period. True helped secure the 7-2 win with a redirected hard pass from Barzal, completing his fourth goal for the current season.

Coming up on October 21, True will be participating with the T-Birds as they fight breast cancer. The team will be holding their GLOW Valley Medical Pink The Rink Night at the ShowWare Center. Themed jerseys will be auctioned off to aid patients at the Breast Center at Valley Medical in the game against the Tri-City Americans.
