Dallas Wins
Seattle loses 2-0

After performing so well for the past couple of weeks, the Seattle Sounders were unable to defeat FC Dallas in Frisco over the weekend. FC Dallas was able to score two goals at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, sending the Sounders off the field without much to show for their efforts. Seattle’s stats have now dropped to -5-1 on the season and 0-3-1 on the road. Stefan Frei did make some saves that were impressive to watch, and were the highlights of the game for most fans.

Prior to the match, Seattle Sounders Head Coach Sigi Schmid not only said that he was planning on making some lineup changes, but that he also hoped the team would use the fatigue of FC Dallas against the team when they went up against them this weekend. Does anyone think that Schmid’s comments may have come back to haunt the team on the field this weekend? The game marked Dallas’s first shutout in months, so you have to wonder if Schmid angered the Soccer Powers That Be this week. Fans are certainly blaming Schmid for the fail, but not because of bad luck. They are saying that the team is full of talent, but there is no heart due to his lack of good management and attitude.

There are also those who continue to say the lack of Martins on the team is still affecting the Rave Green, and that his loss was so unexpected and sudden that the athletes are still reeling from it. Then again, maybe it’s just a road game curse. The Sounders have not won a single away game all season. In fact, they have not won a road game since last September, which is getting pretty problematic for their record overall.

Whatever it is, let’s hope that it ends soon. Maybe Morris will get back on his scoring streak and Dempsey will follow suit. The season is still young and we have plenty of chances left to get our stats back up for the playoffs this year. It’s not time to give up on the team yet, as some fans are saying.

Seattle’s next game will be back in the Emerald City on May 21 when they will face the Colorado Rapids once again. The Rapids are leading the Western Conference at the moment so it will be a big victory if they win. The match begins at 7:00 PM and tickets are still on sale.
