Hailing from San Diego, California, Chad Barrett  is Seattle Sounders number 19. He plays forward for the team. Barrett weighs 185 pounds and is 5’11. His birthday is April 30, 1985. Barrett’s middle name is Randall.

Barrett attended Southridge High School and gained his soccer experience with the Westside Metros Club Soccer team in Beaverton, Oregon. Prior to playing for the Sounders, Barrett played for his college team at UCLA Bruins for two seasons. During the second year, Barrett made headlines by leading the UCLA team in number of assists during the year.

Barrett did not finish college, instead opting to sign a Generation adidas contract. He was immediately picked up by the MLS. Following his two years with the Bruins, he was drafted by Chicago Fire, ranking among the top draft picks for the year. Barrett drafted at number three during the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. While playing for Chicago Fire, he won the 2006 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. He was a starter for the team, leading in the number of goals for several seasons.

In addition to the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, Barrett has won numerous awards over the years. When playing with the LA Galaxy, he won the MLS Cup, Major League Soccer Supporter’s Shield and the Major League Soccer Western Conference Championship. While with the Toronto FC, Barrett won two Canadian Championships, the first in 2009 and the second in 2010.

Following his time with Chicago Fire, Barrett played for Toronto FC from 2008 to 2010, then LA Galaxy from 2011-22012. While at LA Galaxy, he was also on loan to Valerenga, and in 2013 he played for the New England Revolution. Before his loan to the Norway team, Barrett had played 18 games with the LA Galaxy. He’s a relative newcomer to the Sounders, signing on with the team for the 2014-2015 season. During the 2013 draft, the Sounders acquired both Barrett as well as Corey Hertzog. Barrett was a 28 year-old veteran when he joined the team.

Sporting director Chris Henderson called Barrett a hardworking player with lots of experience as an explanation for his acquisition by the team. He also says that Barrett is able to play many positions for the team and has “a nose for the goal.” Barrett has played a total of 254 games during his career. He has scored 162 goals, 17 of which were with the Sounders.
