The University of #North_Dakota is now the Fighting Hawks. Once referred to as the Fighting Sioux, the school retired that nickname 3 years ago and have been debating a new nickname since.

The announcement came after a vote was taken. The choices were either the #North_Dakota Roughriders or the #North_Dakota Fighting Hawks. I have to say that I like the Fighting Hawks rather than the Roughriders.

Spec's College Nickel Package -- Week 1

1. Football Championship Subdivision

It used to be called Division I-AA, but now that we're in a world in which everyone is above average, they had to call it something else. And, since they don't play in bowls, I guess "championship" was available. But what it really means is you get marching bands and rah-rah college-y stuff without all those big-time headaches and for half the cost.

In Week 1, it also meant ... cashing the guarantee check and stealing a victory:

What does your future hold?

When I daze out and think about the future, I normally drift to places that have flying cars, environmentally sustainable ideas and most definitely the ability to transport from one location to another. You know, no more long plane flights, just a quick zap, pop and “Aloha Maui!” While I love this image, a recent BBC article about the future of our nuclear arsenal has me a bit worried.
