Welcome to the T-Birds
Cavin Leth joins the team

The trades continue this season as the Seattle Thunderbirds say goodbye to defenseman Sahvan Khaira. In his place, the Birds received center Cavin Leth from the Swift Current Broncos in a trade made on January 4. Leth has appeared in 39 games this season so far. He has made six goals and seven assists for a total of 13 points with the Swift Current Broncos. In his career with the team, he has played in a total of 159 games. In these, he has scored 30 points between an even split of 15 goals and 15 assists. Leth is already showing his skills on the ice with the T-Birds. He made a goal and an assist in a single game against the Winterhawks on Friday at the ShoWare Center, not only helping to secure a 3-1 victory but also showing Seattle what he is made of.

Leth is 6’ tall. He weighs 180 pounds. He hails from Taber, Alberta and enjoys country western music, particularly Tim McGraw. His favorite team is the Philadelphia Flyers and he also enjoys playing other sports, such as golf.

Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell had high praise for Leth, calling him a diligent forward who is dynamic on the ice. Leth “can play all three forward positions and is a great addition for us heading into the playoffs this year,” he said. He also says that the trade will give Khaira more opportunities to play in the WHL and he wished the young man luck.

Fans of the new player can catch Leth on Twitter at his handle, @cavinleth. He wrote a heartwarming note thanking the Broncos for everything they’ve done for him before he was traded, also thanking his fans for their continuous support in his career so far. He also said that he was excited to join the Birds and that he “can’t wait to get started.” Fans can view his photos, videos and news on his Twitter account and get to know him while he joins the team. Leth also has a Facebook page where fans can follow and keep tabs of him.

Some notable fights that Leth has been involved in include one with Jared McAmmond of the Regina Pats, Landon Quinney of Moose Jaw and Ryan Gardiner of Moose Jaw.
