Welcome to Seattle
T-Birds welcome Landon Bow

You know you have got the skills when a team trades not one, not two, but two players PLUS a future draft pick for you. That is exactly what the T-Birds did in order to acquire one Landon Bow. Bow, formerly a goalie for the Swift Current Broncos, is supposed to be a “goalie upgrade,” according to Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell. Hopefully the trade is a worthwhile one, since the Birds gave up a future Bantam Draft pick (a conditional second round pick) as well as both Jamal Watson and Taz Burman for Bow.

Bow catches and shoots left. He was born on August 24, 1995 in St. Albert, AB. He weighs 208 pounds and stands at 6’5, making him quite a large and strong goaltender. Bow wears the #30 uniform.  So far, Bow has played in 139 games so far. In those, he has made 3,788 saves. In the 30 games he has played for the current season, Bow has a record of 9-14-4-0. He has had two shutouts and a goals against average of 3.09.

Bow was nominated for the CHL Goaltender of the Week right after he joined the T-Birds, and he’s already helped the team achieve winning games. Perhaps the trade went just as Farwell planned, but we won’t know for certain until the season ends. Farwell admitted that the trade was one of the more difficult ones to make because it involved both Watson and Burman, both great players, but that it had to be done in order to help the team progress through the rest of the season.

Farwell had lots of positive things to say about Bow. “Bow is a proven WHL Goalie who is capable of significantly affecting the chance to win for our team every time he plays,” he said, going on to say that now the team has one of the “strongest goalie tandems in our conference,” which should come in quite handy for the rest of the season as well as the playoffs.

Fans who want to get to know Bow can follow him on Twitter at his handle, @LandonCBow. He penned a nice letter thanking the Broncos for everything they’ve done for him, as well as his coaches and teammates. He also expressed excitement about joining with the T-Birds. Fans can see his photos, video shares and news, such as his fun fishing photos and captions.
