The Seattle Storm unveiled a new logo on the team’s Facebook page today. The logo is the same image the Storm already had, but it has a color change: the old red ring around the team name is now a light blue shade, the bright orange colors on the ball and background border are now yellow and match the green shades that were more muted than the crimson and orange colors. The entire logo has a much softer look than it did previously. When fans commented on the change, the Storm admins confirmed that the colors were changed.

Some fans are really enjoying the new look. First Jamaican WNBA player Simone Edwards says, “I’m a fan of your new color scheme.” She added a smiley face to emphasize how cool she thought the new look is. Some fans said that it was time for a change and they really enjoy the new colors. One fan pointed out that the new colors were visible on the Storm Christmas card if fans were looking hard enough to see it.

Other fans are incensed about the change, crying foul especially about the removal of the red. One fan seethed that the team is not the Sonics, while another posted an image of the old colors, declaring them the true colors of the team. Some simply stated they liked the old colors better, while others claim the new look is washed out. A fan said that she thought something was wrong with the colors on her device when she saw the more austere-looking logo. One point that was made by a thoughtful fan who assured she still loved the team no matter its logo is interesting: will the new look appear too light on t-shirts, making them appear washed out? Some fans are even begging the team to bring the red back.
