Cycling the El Camino de la Muerte

For a death-defying adventure in Bolivia

For couples that enjoy a truly exciting adventure, consider tackling the infamous cycling route known as El Camino de la Muerte, or The Road of Death, in Bolivia.  This road travels around forty miles from Coroico to La Paz and in addition to featuring some of the most amazing scenery you’ll find in the country, it also offers cyclers a large incentive to stay careful while riding.  The road is so dangerous, in fact, that estimates say hundreds of travelers die along the road each year, plummeting from the narrow trail and over the cliffs.  Part of the danger and the excitement is that the road descends as it goes, providing plenty of momentum and little margin for error as you cycle around hairpin turns.  If you’re looking for one of the most adrenaline-inducing rides of your life, the El Camino de la Muerte is the spot to go.  Has anyone travel The Road of Death before?  Did you go by cycle or by car?
