About two hours north of Chicago, just past the city of Milwaukee is a town and an inn that radiate a wonderful historic atmosphere while still retaining all the modern amenities that you could desire.  For couples wanting a quaint, small town experience, Washington House Inn and the town of Cedarburg are a great option.  Explore the town and peruse the pubs, galleries, shopping venues and fine restaurants.  Take a tour of the many historic sites or enjoy one of the weekend festivals.  If you need some nature, hiking spots are nearby as is the town’s 32 mile biking trail.  And if you really want to hit up the big city, it’s just a short hop to Milwaukee.  Does anyone have any activities in Cedarburg that they would recommend doing?
