Wolfpack alert: The first 'Hangover Part III' trailer is here
We all knew another Hangover movie was coming, and I think I speak for many of us who say that I sincerely hope the final chapter in the trilogy is better than the second installment. I thought The Hangover was hilarious and one of the best comedies in years. The Hangover Part II left me cold, for the most part. It was the same movie, just in a different setting, and to me it just didn't seem as funny. Such is the way of Hollywood, though: The second films are almost never as good as the first, with few exceptions.
So, it was with a bit of trepidation that I watched the first teaser-trailer for The Hangover Part III, which is due to hit theaters nationwide on May 24, 2013, so expect more trailers and clips to start coming out in the next few weeks. For now, this first trailer has to hold us:
The Hangover Part 3 - Official Teaser Trailer (HD)
Are you laughing your head off yet? Me neither, but I'll admit it is great to see the gang all together again, particularly Bradley Cooper. This time out, director Todd Phillips is leaving us guessing about the actual Hangover Part III plot, but you can be sure that somehow Phil, Doug, Alan and Stu will get into some sort of trouble along the way.
Yes, at some point the Wolfpack does, in fact, return to Las Vegas in The Hangover Part III, presumably after the death of Alan's father. So, no wedding? No, but there is at least one funeral, featuring Alan busting out a soul-stirring "Ave Maria" that prompts Phil to note that he has the "voice of an angel."
And yes, the gang makes bad decisions. It seems that Alan once again has a new furry animal friend. It's a giraffe, and sadly, the poor creature meets its end courtesy of a freeway overpass. Alan also shares a gag-inducing flirtation with none other than Melissa McCarthy, via a lollipop exchange that looks pretty funny. Has Alan met his soul mate?
Oh, and Heather Graham is back in The Hangover Part III as Jade, so that's something. And was that John Goodman in the trailer? It was! And of course, my favorite character throughout all three films, Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), is definitely in The Hangover Part III, though I'm not sure why he's dressed as a police officer. I can't wait to find out, though, and I'll be in my seat come May 24, with high hopes that this wildly successful franchise can end on a great, hilarious note.
What do you think of the new Hangover Part III trailer? Are you pumped for the movie, or unsure after Hangover Part II?
