Friday Fun: Make your life a million times better

Plus cool animal stories, how to make a hanging tree house and more

Here’s a list of ways to make your life a million times better. And here are 18 ways to become a better person. Honestly, I think if we all just gave up judgment and liked ourselves as we are, it would totally be enough.

Make your own pallet coasters. Need pallets? Try the free section of Craigslist.

Got orange peels? Here are 10 things to do with them.

Look at these amazing hanging tree houses! I want one. I want four!

Check out this amazing story about a turtle who was missing for 30 years!

Make your kids a fun ice activity when it gets hot—Wood Sprite loves this: Stick a few toys or random items (I’ve used foil-wrapped chocolate coins, sequins, candy wrappers, pom poms, etc.) in a bowl and add water, then freeze it overnight. The next day, let your child play with the ice outside and chisel the items out with a spoon or stick.

Head to your local science center and see what’s happening this weekend. This photo of a Mexican salamander—so cool!—is from our science center. We have First Fridays, which include free parking and reduced fees for exhibits and Omnimax films—see what your science center has to offer.

Here are some favorite children’s books to enjoy this weekend. Grab a picnic blanket and some grub, head to the park, and spend the whole day eating, playing and reading together as a family. If you need summer toys—Frisbees, water guns and such—I highly recommend the dollar store or the dollar aisle at Target.

Have you heard about the pyramids found in Alaska? This story is actually an older one, but I am having trouble finding a credible source and I’m wary of its truth—that said, how cool would such a discovery be?!
