9 Tips For Making A Better Sims 3 Baby

1.    In earlier versions of The Sims, you always had a chance of making a baby with just regular "Woo Hoo."  This doesn't seem to be the case with Sims 3.  As far as I know, you can ONLY get pregnant with "Try For Baby."

(I'm sure I read a mention somewhere that there is a vanishingly small chance that an act of Woo Hoo will result in a pregnancy, but I can't find it now.)

2.  If you want a boy, eat apples during your pregnancy.  If you want a girl, eat watermelons.  Eating three of either is usually enough to do the trick.

According to Carl's Guide, your Sim has to eat the fruit BEFORE they are visibly pregnant.  In other words, scarf those fruits within 24 hours of hearing the tell-tale lullaby jingle in bed.  (I haven't tested this myself, but Carl knows his stuff!)

In the early days, you had to watch what your Sim cooked, because they might fix (e.g.) apple pancakes when you were trying for a girl.  This problem was fixed in an early patch, so your Sim can now eat prepared foods with either food without fear.

3.  The Sims 2 had the "cheesecake hack."  If you wanted twins, you simply ate cheesecake while pregnant.  There is no such trick with Sims 3.

However, you can give your Sim the fertility treatment Lifetime Reward, which costs 15,000 happiness points.  It increases your chance of twins, and you may even get triplets!

4.  Playing the guitar improves the relationship between those two Sims.  If you want to score some friends (or dates!) try bringing your guitar out in public and playing some tunes.  The Sims watching you play will like you more, and you won't even have to give them a back rub!

5.  Having a high Charisma score makes people like you faster, too.

6. You can always cheat!  Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat code window.  Then type in:

testingcheatsenabled true

Then go to your Relationships panel, and just drag the relationships bar all the way to the right.

7.  If you "Try For Baby" in the time machine, you can choose to try either in the past or the future.  If it's successful, your Sim's baby may some day appear in the present day!

8. In order to choose your baby's traits, you have to have a happy pregnancy.  Keep the mother's mood bar high, and fulfill as many of her wishes as you can.

Have both parents read the pregnancy books (Baby Incoming), watch the Kids channel on TV, and listen to the Kids music station on the radio.  If you can stand it, you can have them do all three things at once.  (I usually mute my computer when I do this, lest the sound drive me insane.)

Doing these things also increases your chances of having twins.

9.  Stick a bear in there!

You can drag a Wugglesworth Schnuggles Bear into your baby's crib.  It will bring up their Fun and Social motives, and give them a positive moodlet.  (Anything to keep the little monsters from crying!)
