Alphabet Challenge: Generation 1

A little while ago, I decided to play a modified (i.e. unofficial) version of one of the many generational Sims 2 challenges. The idea with a generational challenge is to play an entire blood line through a series of generations. In my case, I decided to go whole hog and play through 26 generations, one for each letter of the alphabet.

(My apologies for the poor quality of some of these early pictures. I didn't realize I had my game camera stuck on "medium quality" and "small picture size" for a while.)

I started by creating the challenge founders, Aaron and Alice Alphabetti. Aaron was a Family sim, with a lifetime aspiration to have ten children. (Good luck with that one, buddy!) Alice was a Knowledge sim, who wanted to max out all seven of her skill levels.

Aaron and Alice had what could well be the single worst wedding in all of history. I lost track of what was happening, and didn't realize that Alice's carpool had arrived to take her to work. As a result, she walked away and drove off to work immediately after the ceremony, but before it was time to cut the cake. Here's a picture of Aaron, standing beside that poor forlorn little wedding cake.

That night, Aaron and Alice successfully conceived. Three days later, a pair of twin boys was born. Since they were the second generation, letter B, I named them Baxter and Bob. Oddly enough, I don't have any pictures of the boys when they were children.

Since Aaron was the one with the Family aspiration, I decided to have him play the role of stay at home dad. I got Alice a job in the criminal career, but she didn't really care for it. Every night when she returned home from work, she was furiously unhappy about the job. Fine, FINE!

I got her a job in law enforcement instead. She seemed to enjoy it a bit more than the criminal career, but she aged into "elder" status not long after her first promotion. I gave up, and had her retire from work. But hey, even her tiny pension was better than nothing.

For the first generation, the big breadwinner in the house was their dog, Astra. I based Astra on a pit bull, with some minor physical changes. I had Aaron spend a week juggling between caring for the twin babies, and teaching Astra all of the commands available to dogs.

Once Astra had learned everything, I had Aaron find her a job. Her first job was on the Service Dog career track. She flunked out within the first few days. Her second job was on the Security track, where she quickly progressed to the top of her career. (Makes sense for a pit bull, right?) Pretty funny to see a dog leaving for work in a limo!

My original idea was to breed Astra, and have a secondary generational challenge of dog family lineage. Unfortunately I lost track of time, and Astra aged to "elder" before I had a chance to make her some friends. Oops!

Here's an informal picture of Aaron and Alice on the couch in their living room, along with their new toddler Bea.

Next time, catching up with Generation 2: Bob, Baxter, and Bea.
