Anti-Islam Ads Finally Go Too Far

When you’re trying to make a point and that point has to do with hating on another culture, it’s only a matter of time before you’ll end up crossing the line. The recent anti-Islam ads that went up on NYC buses were tasteless but still upheld by the law. The latest ad that the same group is trying to use, however, didn’t quite make the cut.

The American Freedom Defense Initiative had one ad that pictured the recently executed journalist James Foley. Naturally, this made the family of the deceased more than a little upset. So the AFDI decided against running the ad. While the message they sent to Foley’s family was one expressing their concern about the “sensitivity” of the subject, more likely they were just trying to avoid being sued.
