The best Nashville swimming spots

Where to swim near Nashville

Swimming in a local lake or river is a fantastic, all natural way to relax and unwind at the end of a difficult week. Here are our picks for the top three swimming holes near Nashville.

Carmac Falls

This beautiful swimming spot is privately owned, and you must be registered at the nearby inn in order to swim there. But it’s worth the stay at the inn – the swimming hole is at the base of Carmac Falls, and the rustic lodge is exquisite.

Cummins Falls

This swimming hole is at the end of a 1.25 mile hike through the lovely forest of Cummins Falls State Park. The hike can be strenuous and difficult, but the end result is well worth it: a gorgeous pool at the base of the falls, complete with a rope swing.

Blue Hole

Located in the Buffalo River, this swimming hole has a campground nearby, and is located beneath a bridge which helps provide shade on hot summer days.
